This is a practitioners’ handbook and activity pack to coincide with the books;
The series develops pupils’ knowledge and understanding of religion and religious issues, and encourages children to develop ideas, opinions and feelings with imagination, creativity and sensitivity which can help inform their views of the world, their hopes, and their dreams.
This series was published before Curriculum for Wales and therefore there’s reference to the Religious Education Skills Framework and Literacy and Numerary Framework. However, the ideas and games in this handbook are relevant to the principles of Curriculum for Wales.
The story books are out of print, but learners don't need to have read these exact stories to use the games, they are just as useful if they have learnt about the history of St David (Doing the little things) Joseph and his colourful coat (It’s me, your brother!), Easter (Reuben’s Story), Hindu Festival Holi Hai (Holi Hai), The Sikhism Naming Ceremony (The Naming Ceremony), or about protecting our environment (Harry’s special planet). The handbook includes colourful A3 printable games as well as ideas and materials about other practical activities for the younger children e.g. creating welshcakes, discussing what we should do in certain situations based on photos, place the Easter story in order using pictures, and much more.
