Pecyn Pos Mathemateg - 3

This is the third in a series of three packs of puzzles for less confident learners, with the aim of attracting them to mathematical ideas. By using everyday life situations, simple language and colourful images, they foster learners' ability to develop understanding, and to make connections between mathematical ideas. Four characters - Asha, Cai, Hai and Lili - guide us through the puzzles.

In line with the Curriculum for Wales requirements, the cards emphasise the links between mathematical ideas, and can help pupils develop all five proficiencies. The everyday situations that appear on the cards provide an opportunity to apply mathematics by developing their numeracy skills.

The pack contains 50 double-sided cards, with one side offering an explanation or practicing a mathematical concept, and the other offering a 'challenge' to practice and extend. The cards can be used as a spur to independent work or as part of introducing and practicing mathematical concepts. The packs are graded at three levels, with the first pack containing the simplest challenges. The answers to all the puzzles can be found on Hwb.
